May Preview Day 2: June & July Stamp Set
Posted by CHRISTINE WOODEN
Welcome to day 2 of our previews. I am back with the next installment of our bi-monthly set. Our first set was April & May which covered Mothers Day, spring, rainy days, etc. June & July covers Fathers Day, summer, & 4th of July.
Card #1 is the little sailor cat. I paired him with the "A'hoy matey" sentiment. I used the In & Outs Oval Die to cut out the oval behind the sailor cat character. I layered white paper behind the red polka dot paper to do a simple card layout.
I had a ton of fun creating card #2. I used the puppy with his stack of ice cream cones and paired him with the "Dog days of summer" sentiment. I used the Birthday Dots Stencil to first do brown distress ink and then moved the stencil and did the pink distress ink dots.
I cut out pink and brown banners with the Banners Die out of paper from the Dazzle Dazzle Paper Pad and Hearts & Dots Paper Pad. I finished the card with enamel dots for Razzle Dazzle Shiny Dots.
Card #3 has the same layout as the previous card. The theme for this card though is Father's Day, or Happy Dad's Day as the sentiment says. This time I cut out the In & Out Oval using the blue dot paper from Hearts & Dots Paper Pad. The strip of pattern paper is from the Dazzle Dazzle Paper Pad. I finished the card off with the green, blue, and brown Dazzle Dazzle Shiny Enamel Dots.
Card #4 is an idea I got in my head when I designed the set. I wanted the duck and fireworks to pop. To create the background I took navy blue cardstock and stamped the fireworks from the set in Wow Embossing Ink, I then used white embossing powder to have the fireworks show up so nicely on the dark paper.
I again used the Banners Die and did the embossing with white embossing powder. I finished the card off with white and red Dazzle Dazzle Shiny Enamel Dots.
For card #5 I wanted to create a beach scene. I used the new Clouds & Grasses Stencil to create the sand for the beach. Then I used distress ink to create the water that the bear in the inner tube is swimming in. I stamped the sentiment right on the card. I did cut out the sun, bear, and bunny using the coordinating Outline Die. I wanted the card to not have any thickness so that when I mailed it, it could go with just a postage stamp on it.
