Playful Halloween Card with Vampy Family
Posted by DESIGN TEAM

Hi friends, Rick here sharing a fun Halloween card with you today on the C. C. Designs Blog. I reached for the Vampy Family Stamp Set and some of the pattern paper, and the combination brought such a playful vibe to this design. Whenever I create Halloween cards, I like them to feel festive and joyful rather than too spooky, and these products made that so easy to achieve.

Coloring to Match Pattern Paper
When I’m working with bold prints like the large polka dot pattern from any pattern paper packs, I like to let that guide my coloring. I pulled out my markers and chose shades that matched the orange, purple, and teal in the paper. Not only does this create harmony in the design, but it also saves time when picking a color palette because the patterned paper does all the work for you.
Pro Tip: Keep the patterned paper you’re using right next to you as you color your images. Test your markers on a scrap piece of cardstock and hold them against the paper before committing. It’s a simple step that can make a huge difference in the finished look.
Balancing Multiple Patterns
This card features three different pattern papers, and the trick to making them work together is balance. I let the large polka dots be the star, while the smaller dots and plaid played supporting roles. By keeping one print bold and letting the others take a back seat, the design feels fun without being overwhelming.
Whenever I mix patterned papers, I like to think of it like putting together an outfit—something bold paired with something subtle creates the best balance.

Finishing with a Simple Sentiment
With so much going on in the background, I chose to finish the card with a simple sentiment strip. It creates a clean resting spot for the eye while still allowing all the fun patterns and coloring to shine. This is one of my favorite ways to keep busy cards from feeling too cluttered.

The Vampy Family Stamp Set and the pattern papers were such a joy to create with, and I love how they brought this playful Halloween card to life. By letting the patterned paper guide my coloring and carefully balancing the prints, the whole design came together seamlessly.
