Sparkle & Shine: A Clean and Simple Christmas Card with Bumbles

Hi friends! Rick here sharing a little sneak peek of the upcoming C.C. Designs October Release, and I’m so excited to show you today’s card featuring the adorable Bumbles Stamp Set. If you’ve followed my cardmaking style for a while, you know I love designs that are clean and simple but still full of character—and this one checks all the boxes.

When I saw this sweet little Bumble holding his tiny star, I knew he’d be perfect for a soft, wintry background and a touch of holiday sparkle. Clean and simple Christmas cards are some of my favorites to make because they let the image do all the talking, while still feeling polished and festive.

A Soft Winter Glow

To set the scene for this cheerful Bumble, I created a soft ink blended circle using two of my favorite winter shades: a pale blue and a light lilac. The combination gives that frosty “snow globe” effect without overwhelming the clean layout. Then, to bring in just a bit of movement and texture, I added subtle snowflakes within the circle—keeping the design tone-on-tone so it still feels light and airy.

Pro Tip: When you’re working on a clean and simple card, think about contrast and placement rather than layers. A strong focal point—like this adorable Bumble—naturally draws the eye, and a bit of tone-on-tone detail keeps the background interesting without making it busy.

Bringing Bumbles to Life

I stamped this charming Bumble from the Bumbles Stamp Set onto bright white cardstock and colored him to match the soft winter tones of the background. One of my favorite things about this set is how expressive each Bumble is—there’s so much personality in those tiny details! I chose the “’Tis the Season to Sparkle” sentiment from the same set to tie it all together and give the design that extra touch of holiday cheer.

Once the coloring and stamping were finished, I added a few small die-cut snowflakes from my stash for dimension and sparkle. A touch of shimmer glue and a sprinkle of glitter gave the whole card that magical finishing touch.
