SHOW SIDEBAR
A Spellbinding Slimline Card with the We Fly Stamp Set

Hi friends, Rick here, and I’m so excited to be sharing today’s project with you on the C.C. Designs Blog. I knew the We Fly Stamp Set would be perfect for a Halloween slimline card—it captures the Sanderson Sisters’ personalities so well and gave me the chance to create a playful scene that tells a little story. Slimline cards are one of my favorite ways to showcase character stamps because the larger canvas gives you space to stretch out a background and let the images shine.

Bringing the Sisters to Life

I started by stamping the three witches from the We Fly set onto Bristol cardstock. For coloring, I kept to a small palette—it helps create harmony across the images and keeps the design from feeling overwhelming. Since this set doesn’t include coordinating dies, I fussy cut each character by hand. I’ll admit, fussy cutting isn’t my favorite task, but I’ve learned that sharp scissors and turning the paper (not the scissors) makes the process so much smoother. And honestly, when you see the finished piece, the effort is worth it.

Building the Background

For the slimline background, I created a simple but dramatic night sky. A little ink blending, spritzed water for texture, and shimmer spray for shine helped bring the scene to life. Slimline panels can feel intimidating because of their size, but here’s a pro tip: work in sections and build up your layers slowly. This way, you don’t end up with harsh lines and you keep the panel feeling soft and cohesive.

Adding the Magic

The sentiment “I put a spell on you and now you’re mine” from the We Fly set was the perfect finishing touch for the front of the card. I stamped it directly onto the background before adding the witches with a bit of foam tape to give them depth. A few highlights with a white gel pen added even more dimension. To complete the inside, I stamped one of the sisters again along with the playful sentiment, “Oh, look, another glorious morning. It makes me sick!” I love when the inside of a card has just as much personality as the outside.

Final Thoughts

The We Fly Stamp Set is a must-have if you’re looking to add some Halloween magic to your cardmaking this year. Between the fun characters and the cheeky sentiments, it’s easy to create designs that will make anyone smile. I loved pairing this set with a slimline format—it gave me the space to let the sisters fly across the sky and really shine as the stars of the card.

Happy Crafting

Rick
