Bright & Bold: A Fast Birthday Card Featuring Rainbow Brite from C. C. Designs

Hi friends! Rick here, and I’m so excited to be joining you on the blog today with a bright and playful birthday card featuring the Colorful Day Stamp Set from C. C. Designs. If you're anything like me, you know the occasional last-minute birthday card emergency is real—and that's exactly what inspired this project. I needed something quick, but I still wanted it to feel fun, handmade, and full of charm.

The Colorful Day Stamp Set is packed with cheerful images, but Rainbow Brite instantly caught my eye. She’s nostalgic, sweet, and brings so much personality to a card front. I started by stamping her onto my favorite alcohol marker-friendly cardstock and reached for bold, happy colors to bring her to life.

What I love about this stamp is how easy it is to make it the focal point. Whether you’re short on time or just want something that pops with minimal effort, this image does the work for you. It’s perfect for those “I need a card right now” moments without sacrificing style or sentiment.

Pro Tip: When using bold character stamps, try keeping the background simple but textured—think tone-on-tone stamping or shimmer cardstock layers. It helps your image shine without making the design feel flat.

To build the card, I combined soft shimmer cardstock layers with a vibrant stamped panel. For the background, I used one of the smaller images from the Colorful Day Stamp Set to create a playful stamped pattern. It adds depth and personality without distracting from the main character.

I also used the “Happy Birthday” sentiment included in the set. It’s clean, versatile, and easy to tuck into any layout. This card came together quickly, but with the right layers and bright colors, it feels anything but rushed.
