Craft Stunning Birthday Cards WITHOUT Patterns Using C.C. Designs

Hello crafty friends it's Rick back with you again with another fun card idea and video tutorial.  This week I challenged myself to create a fun birthday card using the Birthday Critters Stamp Set and absolutely no pattern paper!  And it may surprise you that it was way easier than you may think.  I love to stretch my stash and I know that you do as well.  The technique of creating your own pattern paper is a great way to do just that.

Plus the super cute birthday animals in the Birthday Critters Stamp Set made it super easy.  You will see in the video that you only need a few supplies to do this.  You need a super cute stamp set (like the Birthday Critters Stamp Set), some white cardstock, some alcohol marker friendly ink, and some alcohol markers to color in the images.

Make Your Own Pattern Paper:

To get started cut your paper to a little larger than you are going to work with.  You can even do a whole sheet of cardstock if you want.  I have done that before and got multiple cards from it.  But today I just went with a piece of white cardstock that was cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" knowing I was going to cut it down.  I always start stamping in the center of the cardstock with my largest image.  I then stamp the next largest image and I always get them close together and take them off the page as well.  I try to stamp in a visual triangle with each image and work out from that.  I even add some of the sentiments towards the end to finish off the design.  Once all the images are stamped it's time to color.
Once I have all the images colored even my focal image it's time to put the card together.  I can cut the created pattern paper to any size that I want and add it to a card base.  Today I keep it pretty simple and cut the card front to 3 3/4" x 5" and added it to the card base.  I stamped and colored the little dog with the present and balloon and added the sentiment after coloring him.  I added this to a mat layer cut slightly larger than the focal panel.  I popped this up onto some foam adhesive before adding it to the card.  I added some white gel pen details to finish off the card.
