February Preview Day 1: Monkeys, Paper Pads, and Enamel Dots
Posted by CHRISTINE WOODEN
Woohoo it is time to preview the new February release. The release will be available on February 7th at 12 noon CST. Today and tomorrow the team and I will be previewing the new products that are being release.
To go along with the new stamps and dies there are 2 new paper pads and coordinating enamel dots. The paper pads are 6" x 6" and have 16 designs, with 2 sheets of each design. There are 2 different enamel dots, clear and shiny. The shiny dots has the color throughout the whole dot, while the clear has the color in the base and the dome is clear, it is almost like a mirror effect.
Card #1 uses the little Monkey with a balloon and I paired him with the birthday sentiment. The card is A2 size (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") I layered green dots pattern paper on top of the base, and then blue cardstock on top of the pattern paper. I used the Dotty Stencil and embossing paste, tinted green with Distress Ink, to add some texture to the blue cardstock.
I colored the Monkey with Copics and cut out with the Monkey Outline Die. The sentiment was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto cardstock that was cut out with the Banners Die. To finish the card I added Razzle Dazzle Shiny Enamel Dots and sequins.
Card #2 is the cute hanging Monkey. I used the diagonal stripe paper from the Razzle Dazzle Paper pad and cut out the Trio Collage Die, which I then layered over red cardstock. The 2 squares in the Trio Collage Die were cut out of the Hearts & Dots Paper Pad.
The banner and heart are also from the Trio Collage Die. I added a little glitter to the heart. The sentiment is from the Monkeys Clear Stamp Set, which I think goes perfectly with this funny monkey.
I stamped the sentiment with Memento Rhubarb Ink, and then re-stamped with embossing ink and added clear embossing powder.
Card #3 is a very happy monkey. I thought he was just perfect for an interactive card. I started with the white paper that measures 3 3/4" x 5". I cut the grass from the Grass and Cloud Die, cutting out 2 grasses and layering them.
I used the Spinners Die to make the track that the monkey would pull along. I then used the pull part from Pull Tab Die to pull the monkey along the track. I attached the pull part to the monkey with pop up dots. The green circle with arrow also comes from the Pull Tab Die.
I them stamped the branch from the Monkeys Clear Stamp Set in the corner, and the clouds are from Spring Things Clear Stamp Set. I colored the branch with Copics and the clouds with Distress Ink. I finished the card with stamping the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink
And the 4th and final cards has the banana eating monkey. I am so tickled about this card. It came together perfectly. I started with a white base, layered it with the yellow dot paper in the Hearts & Dots Paper Pad, and added another white layer of cardstock.
I used brown and yellow distress ink that I had watered down and flicked it on the white paper with a paint brush. The sentiment is stamped onto black cardstock I cut out with the Banners Die. for the sentiment I did white embossing powder, because I just love the way it pops. The monkey is colored with Copics and then I just glued everything down with Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I finished off the card with Razzle Dazzle Clear Enamel Dots
